THE INFLUENCE OF CULTURAL DIVERSITY TO THE ADVANCEMENT OF INTERNATIONAL CO-OPERATION

The aim of this study is to examine the influence of cultural diversity on the advancement of international cooperation and reasons for cultural diversity. Given the growing globalized and integrated world, cultural diversity has become an important instrument of promoting peace and understanding like never before. Due to the speedy growth of diverse cultural societies and countries, migrations across national boundaries and the development of Information Communication Technologies (ICT), cultural diversity has become a veritable instrument of advancing international cooperation in our contemporary world. The methodology adopted for the study is qualitative, using documentary evidence and literatures from related materials on cultural diversity. The study revealed that the vision for a more equal world can only be achieved if we find ways to inculcate and spread the spirit of cultural diversity in the world around us. The author recommended total promotion of cultural diversity, as well as institutional strengthening among stakeholders in our contemporary world of globalization and integration. It is also recommended that multiplicity of cultural terms should be encouraged in our society. As such, matters that emanate from cultural diversity cannot be resolved only by the actions of the state; rather, they also require collective knowledge propagation, creation of awareness on cultural diversity and strong international collaboration and exchange of ideas.
