PSYCHOLOGICAL EMPOWERMENT AND SELF-EFFICACY AS PREDICTORS OF EMPLOYEES COMMITMENT, AMONG PRIMARY SCHOOL TEACHERS IN GBOKO, LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA BENUE STATE

The study investigated psychological empowerment and self-efficacy as predictors of employment among primary school teachers in Gboko Local Government Area. A total of 100 staff were randomly selected from the primary schools in the area. The instruments used for data collection were Psychological Empowerment Scale (PES). General Self-Efficacy Scale (GES) and Employee Commitment Survey Questionnaire (ECSQ).Three research hypotheses research questions were formulated to be guided. Finding from the test of hypothesis one revealed that, there is significant influence of psychological empowerment on employees empowerment among primary schools in Gboko Local Government Area of Benue State. Finding from the test of hypothesis two revealed that there is significant influence of elf-efficacy on employees commitment among primary school teachers in Gboko Local Government Area of Benue State and finding from the test of hypothesis 3 revealed that there is a joint influence of psychological empowerment and self-efficacy on employees commitment among primary school teachers in Gboko Local Government Area of Benue State. It was concluded that, psychological employment and self-efficacy are predictors of employees commitment among primary school teachers. Based on the findings of the study, it was recommended among others that human resource executives especially school heads should ensure psychological empowerment of primary school teachers in order to enhance their commitment.
