Abstract
This article espouses the concept of trade union and
interrogates gaps inherent in extant regulations on
recognition of trade unions in the workplace in Nigeria. By
articulating provisions of applicable regulations in the
United Kingdom, it admits the slow pace of development of
labour regulations in most developing countries, which
incidentally accounts for large chunk of the challenges
associated with recognition of trade unions in Nigeria. As a
panacea to the identified challenges, the article concludes
with the exigency for amendment of extant labour
regulations on recognition of trade unions, by the National
Assembly, so as to evolve a clearly thought-out, robust and
dedicated normative framework with inputs of relevant
stakeholders in the workplace
